News from summer at St. Columba!

What’s happening at St. Columba ? Lots!
Rare is the day when our church is idle.
We are truly a 24/7 kind of place.
More importantly, we are a family, and so just about every day we do something and offer something to strengthen and enrich our church family.

St. Columba Summer 2017

Friends, as we head into the middle of summer we would like to share some stories & photos of what’s been happening and what’s on the horizon. August is often a quiet month for us, Rev Debra is even going to TRY to take some time off 🙂 August is the start of a new school year and a chance for us to utilize our new building to double our free after school program!

We plan to use St. Columba’s new building in many ways: additional Hammock House space, office space and making it available for rent as a meeting or party location to help pay the mortgage. If you have a need or know someone who has a need for event space for 50-75 people, please contact the office.

Many of you have expressed a desire to help with the ministry of St. Columba. Thank you. St. Columba can not live the ministry of the church without the help of our volunteers! One of the best ways to help is to join in the churches common life.

Volunteers are needed to make & serve lunch at Independence Cay

Independence Cay welcomes the homeless for a hot lunch, showers, and laundry. They also have transitional housing for 8-10 men that are committed to making the changes necessary to get their lives back on track. They live as a family, work on obtaining jobs, attend AA meetings if appropriate, resolve physical and mental health issues and also maintain a vegetable and herb contributes to the daily meal.

Every Sunday for almost 10 years, St. Columba has upheld its promise to feed and serve the folks at Independance Cay-Marathon’s homeless & tranisitional shelter a hot, healthy lunch. Volunteers are needed to help cook & serve lunch every Sunday at noon. We can help with menus, getting the food if needed, supply pots, pans, etc….the only thing missing is YOU.

Our Volunteers make a difference in the lives of those at Independence Cay . Whether cooking a meal and/or serving lunch –
they bring our mission to life!
There is no question that Volunteers are a key ingredient to our success, they play an important role in just about every aspect of all we do at
St. Columba.

Thank You!
